Happy Birthday, Beez!

Image
Today was the day, six years ago, that our son Rowan was born. The labor lasted a total of 26 hours from the first contraction to the last...10 hours of which were spent at the hospital. At the end of the day, we had a beautiful little baby boy who looked exactly like his Daddy. The next several days were a blur of confusion, happiness, and dashed expectations. We were soon told that we would be lucky to celebrate even one birthday with our little boy. Fortunately for us, we were able to celebrate three birthdays and now we've celebrated just as many birthdays with Rowan as without him. Rowan was a beautiful baby with an even more beautiful soul. We all learned so much from him and we miss him every day. We know that Rowan would have made a wonderful older brother for Brixton...and we're sure that he watches out for him every day. Life changed for us six years ago..and we wouldn't change one minute. We Love You, Beezie! I wish I had pictures to post from his actu...

A Visit with Santa

Image
Mom and Dad had a different kind of holiday party this year. Instead of having it be a drink-all-night party for the adults, they decided to have a party geared towards the kiddos. And since they have an in with The Man, they called in a favor with the big man himself...who happens to be a Raider fan! Lucy got completely freaked out when Santa came into the backyard yelling "Ho Ho Ho" and cried to Delia saying "I don't want to see Santa"! It was HILARIOUS! She made Delia take her inside and wouldn't even get near the door to the outside...until she saw me with my face painted. I guess she wanted to be like her Auntie, so she finally went out. But Lucy wasn't the only one who didn't want to sit with Santa! Of course, Brixton was asleep when Santa arrived...so we had to wake him up so we could take a picture. He was a limp little lima bean who wasn't so happy about his nap getting interrupted! We all sang Christmas carols with Santa...but we ...

Brixton Sits By Himself

Brixton thinks he's all grown up. He eats grown up food. He has grown up teeth. And now... He sits like a grown up. Although he sits pretty good by himself, he definitely hasn't mastered the sit. I now know (from personal experience) that he should not be left sitting on the couch by himself. He doesn't have that much control! Don't worry, I don't have video of him falling off the couch...I was too busy trying to keep him from crying so Tzaddi wouldn't know that I was the first one to let him fall. BAD MOM! BAD MOM!

Sweet Potatoes

Image
Delia came over last weekend to give me a lesson in how to make my own baby food. She promised that the food tastes better and it would save me a lot of money. So we drank lots of wine and we peeled, boiled, pureed and froze a million tiny containers filled with fresh food for Brixton. I was so excited to give him his first bite of homemade sweet potatoes... After all that work...and he didn't like them at all!!! Not to mention the gigantic mess... Even though Brixton didn't really like his meal, we still had a really good time. Nick took over the video while we picked up after dinner...the loud noise in the background is the food processor. Brixton makes the sweetest face... After we cleaned everyone up, Lucy and Brixton got in their Christmas pajamas from Old Navy. Lucy calls them her "Christmas Brissons". How cute are they??? Here's Brixton trying to give Lucy a hug... Say Cheese!

Seriously...a Sippy Cup?

Image
So we keep thinking that today will be the day that Brixton will start to like his solid foods. I know that these photos make it look like he enjoys eating...but I promise you it's just for show! Here is Brixton getting his TEETH brushed for the first time. Yes, it is true: Brixton's bottom two teeth popped through at only five months old. The time is going by way too fast! I think he likes getting his teeth brushed more than he likes to eat solids! Tzaddi had his company party on Dec 4th. Don't we look snazzy all dressed up? Gina babysat for us so we could go out and have a good time. She had a blast watching Brixton...but the real question is...did he??? Look, she even made him drink his bottle all by himself! We decided to give Brixton a sippy cup to practice with while he sits in his high chair. We never expected him to be so good the first time using one! He looks like he's enjoying himself, right?

Brixton's First Thanksgiving

Image
I know it's been quite awhile since I posted anything, so I promise that I'll make this brief - with a lot of photos to catch you up. Brixton & Pixel are becoming very good friends! A nap at the same time??? Pure heaven! We were hanging out over at Mom's house and Delia said that she thought Brixton had enough trunk control to use the Exersaucer. Here are a few photos of him playing in it for the first time! Here's Lucy and Kaiya on Thanksgiving eating at the "kiddy" table! Thanksgiving food doesn't really photograph well, does it? I promise you - it was DELICIOUS! The ONLY photo taken of me and Brixton on his first Thanksgiving. Kelly, Darian and Kaiya Nothing better than a Thanksgiving nap... We stopped by to see Fisher...luckily he woke up and allowed Tzaddi to take a quick picture. Although Brixton didn't get any Thanksgiving turkey, we decided to give him his first bit of "real" food over the weekend. We started him with good old...
