Happy Birthday, Beez!

Today was the day, six years ago, that our son Rowan was born.

The labor lasted a total of 26 hours from the first contraction to the last...10 hours of which were spent at the hospital. At the end of the day, we had a beautiful little baby boy who looked exactly like his Daddy. The next several days were a blur of confusion, happiness, and dashed expectations. We were soon told that we would be lucky to celebrate even one birthday with our little boy.
Fortunately for us, we were able to celebrate three birthdays and now we've celebrated just as many birthdays with Rowan as without him.
Rowan was a beautiful baby with an even more beautiful soul. We all learned so much from him and we miss him every day.
We know that Rowan would have made a wonderful older brother for Brixton...and we're sure that he watches out for him every day.

Life changed for us six years ago..and we wouldn't change one minute.

I wish I had pictures to post from his actual birth day and when he turned 1, but I didn't have a digital camera then - sorry!

Lucy Turns Three!

We went to a baby shower and they had a bouncy house for all the kids. There weren't that many kids using it though, so Lily was nice enough to take Brixton in there for his first time. He LOVED it! I know, I know...Brixton isn't wearing any pants. It was SUPER hot and he was wearing jeans so I just decided to take them off. Saturday Morning Sweetness

On Saturday morning, Tzaddi went to play disc golf for the first time in 3 months and Brixton and I stayed home. Brixton was in such a good mood and he was so chatty! Of course, this is his usual expression...I think he frowns on purpose so that I'll smile at him and then he can smile back! Pixel has become increasingly interested in Brixton. She likes to see just how close she can get before we yell at her. She also really likes trying to lick his face without us knowing. Luckily, I caught it on camera! Although Brixton doesn't look too upset, does he? Now, this is a rather lengthy video and you have to listen to my horrible singing but I promise you it's worth it! We were listening to B is for Bob and Brixton enjoyed the impromptu live concert.

It's Been Three Years

It's been exactly three years since Rowan passed away. It feels like yesterday. In just a bit over a month from now, Rowan will have been gone longer than he was here. We still miss him more than words can say. He taught us so much: How to love How to be loved Compassion Empathy Hope Gratitude Rowan will always be our first child. Rowan will always be Brixton's big brother. I can tell you exactly how we spent every hour on this same day three years ago. I can tell you how the final roller coaster started four days ago...three years ago. I remember making the call to my family; telling them to come right away.
